Highlights of TFTL Exp and what’s next

It is hard to believe that TFTL Exp actually happened one week ago.  It was very successful on many  levels, and we are so grateful to our volunteer community and to God for the hard work and the miracles that happened. Thanks to each of you for your prayers, your service, and your willingness to use your talents in this endeavor.  Everything came together at the last minute beautifully.  Here are some of the hight points:

We had over ten tables, most of which were very interactive and interesting.

About 100 guests attended and about 45 volunteers including the table hosts.

YWAM (Youth with a Mission) was represented by four young people ages 18-25, and they came to help set up, host a table on helping young people set goals, and gave brief testimonies during the worship song in the concert.  They were a huge help

We had about thirty raffle prizes including ones from local businesses.

There was plenty of pizza for everyone

Many of our guests felt very welcomed and loved.

The Flight to Light did a great job and the  dance,  drama and humor was both entertaining and inspiring.

Table hosts were really happy with all the conversations they had with people visiiting their displays.

Perhaps best of all, at least one person that we know of gave her life to Christ because of a connection she made with one of our volunteers at TFTL Exp. More about that later. Praise God!

What is next?

We are doing some meetings where we are reflecting on how things went and what we want to do differently.

We will be hosting a gathering to celebrate all God did through the volunteers and the vehicle of TFTL Exp. YWAM staff and interns will be coming and also doing a training on evangelism and Christian apologetics.

Thanks to Julianne Leffert and James Moore we have a lot of video and photo footage that we plan to make into a promotional video that will inspire especially youth outreach groups to join us next time. We have made  many contacts with potential people who could not come this time so it will be exciting to share with them what actually happened–not just potential.

We are thinking about when the next TFTL Exp will be. YWAM staff has told us that if we host an event in the fall,  they could supply us with a lot of volunteers.  That is a very wonderful offer and we will be getting feedback from folks to see what they think.

Over all we feel really encouraged about everything that happened. It was truly a great Experience!

“I think everything went great,” says Sophie about The Experiment

The Flight to Light Experiment was a combination dress rehearsal and preview for people so that they can be enthusiastic about the upcoming The Flight to Light Experience June 16 1-10 PM . Thanks to Sophie for being such a great volunteer and for being willing to write. All of you are invited to write in your comments. Patricia@theflighttolight.com
Patricia,
I would like to thank you for having me at the experiment. I had a great time. I have always been a fan of Christian music, and being there hearing them praise God and having that music flowing through my veins was a great experience. (even though it was only the experiment).
I also want to thank every body in the band, Josh, Chris, Rick, Holly, and Mahriyanna for letting me be in their presence during their performance. I was very glad to see that so many people showed up. I think everything went great and I am looking forward to the Experience.
I hope we have as much luck as we did with the experiment. Maybe even more! Being there with so many Christian people who love me was something amazing. It was truly an experience I am glad I had.Thank you everyone with The Flight To Light, And God Bless.

Flash Mob Dance Video from Fair in the Square

Thanks to everyone who participated, and to Julianne Leffert who took this video. It truly was a miraculous event because of all the details that had to fall into place including Jonny getting his truck jumped; Andy Hoye just  happened to be there to fix the sound which was in trouble; the sheriff gave permission to the deputy to help out (not on the video–it was hilarious); and Maggie and Kelsey got in early that morning so they could participate. I heard people really loved it. We got to promote The Flight To Light Experience as well as share God’s love.

Calling all Christians who want to reach out to teens and young adults in NWA

Join us and other individuals and ministries who want to empower young people to experience and share the love of God in their lives.

You are invited to The Flight to Light Experiment which is happening this Sat., May 19 from 7-10pm at the Faithful Servant Ministries Roller Skating Rink 400 West St. in Huntsville,  AR. The Experiment will be a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with the Flight to Light volunteer community, local ministries and others who have interest in reaching out to the youth in Madison County and NW Arkansas.
It will include a concert so you can get a real taste of what is to come in the public event, The Flight to Light Experience. Ministries and businesses who are  who care about young people; parents; mentors of young people; pastors, and youth pastors are all warmly invited. You can find out more about The Flight to Light Experience in the video here.

The Experiment is all about bringing people who care about young people in Madison county to network, learn about, and see how they might want to be involved with an amazing Christ-centered event called The Flight To Light Experience. The TFTL Experience is more than just a free concert–it is a mini-festival featuring the band, The Flight to Light, and will include presentations by local dance and performance groups, food, raffle prizes, games and family fun–all directed to teens, young adults and their families. Ministry tables where young people can learn about how to get plugged into to local activities  and ministries that will help them in all kinds of ways—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Here’s how it will happen.

7pm-8pm Potluck with a brief presentation and lots of opportunity to have fellowship and find out what other ministries are doing.

8-9 The Music and Dance presentation—just a sample of what is to come.

9-10 Volunteer job fair: find out more about how you can use your particular talents and ministry to reach out effectively to the young people in attendance,  share your ministry, or other ways that you can meaningfully serve.

If you know young people and you would like to get them involved in a wholesome, Christ-centered project where they can discover and use their talents, and where  the process of producing the event is edifying, uplifting and fun with positive peer pressure,  The Flight to Light Experiment   would be a great to attend. Or if you have a ministry and want to reach out to teens, young adults and their mentors and families–this is an opportunity  that could very much benefit you.
